DAY 1: CITY TOUR IN LIMA
Transfer to the Hotel in Lima. We start the City Tour at around 01:00 pm, having a panoramic view of the "Huaca Pucllana", which was a very sacred Inca precinct. Then we are going to visit the Historical Center, San Martin Square, the Main Square, the Government Palace, the Archbishop Palace, the Municipal Palace, the Cathedral, we will enter the Convent of San Francisco which is a legacy of Art Colonial of all Latin America; after that we will see the main districts of Modern Lima as San Isidro, El Olivar and Miraflores, and its residential, commercial and tourist areas, the panoramic and spectacular view to the Pacific Ocean.
DAY 2: PARACAS - HUACACHINA - NAZCA
Pick up from the hotel at approximately 2:30 in the morning and transfer to the Bus Terminal. Once we arrive to Paracas, we will take a motorboat excursion and explore the Paracas National Reserve, where we can find a gigantic figure in the sand known as "El Candelabro", colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, coastal birds, rock formations and the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Around 10:30 we will head back to the terminal to take our bus to Ica. Arriving, we take you to the only Oasis in South America known as the "Huacachina". There we can have lunch. In the evening at 9:30 pm we will go to the terminal to take the bus to Nazca where we will sleep.
Optional: relax a bit and take a buggy tour in the dunes around the oasis. If you dare you can try sandboarding also.
DAY 3: NAZCA - AREQUIPA
After breakfast we will pick you up to take you to visit the enigmatic lines of Nazca which we can observe from a large metal tower (13 meters high)*. Then we will continue to visit the pre-Inca cemetery of Chauchilla (a necropolis of more than 1000 years). We will leave the coast and take our bus to Arequipa.
*Optional: flight over the Nazca lines, rates vary according to the season, do not hesitate to contact us.
DAY 4: CITY TOUR IN AREQUIPA
We are going to take a panoramic bus and explore "La Ciudad Blanca" or “The White City”, the first place we are going to see is the Plaza de Armas, then the viewpoint of Carmen Alto from where you can see the 3 emblematic volcanoes of the city, after that we continue our tour to the traditional districts of Yanahuara and Cayma. Then we will visit the outlet and zoo “INCALPACA” to see different Andean camelids such as llamas, alpacas, vicunas and guanacos that exist in Peru. Finally we will see the artificial lake of Tingo, Los Molinos de Sabandía, the house of the founder and the Campinas.
DAY 5: AREQUIPA - CHIVAY (B)
Early pick up and trip to the Colca Canyon. We will take the asphalted track passing Yura village then we will pass through the Natural Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, arriving in Chivay we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will cross some villages of the right margin of the canyon: Coporaque, Ichupampa, we will observe their majestic churches. At night we can enjoy the thermal baths of the canyon.
DAY 6: CRUZ DEL CONDOR VIEW POINT - PUNO (B)
We start the day very early in order to appreciate the flight of the majestic condor, from the viewpoint called “Cruz del Cóndor”. On our way back we will pass through the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, Yanque where there are also majestic churches. We will arrive to Puno, at approximately 7:00 pm.
DAY 7: TITIKAKA LAKE (B, L, D)
After the breakfast we are going to pick you up and transfer to the port. We will visit Titicaca Lake by boat, arriving at Uros Island, which is a peculiar floating island made of totora, where the "community of Uros" has lived for centuries. They preserve their traditions and communal life, hunting and fishing.
Then we will visit Amantaní Island, here the local families will welcome us in their typical house to share us an unforgettable experience. We will have lunch and have free time to visit Pachatata, enjoying the beautiful sunset and then return with our "new family" to have dinner and have a rest.
DAY 8: AMANTANI ISLAND (B, L)
At approximately 8 am we will be going to Taquile where we can enjoy dances, music and other cultural expressions from local people. We return to Puno after lunch, arriving at 4:30 pm. Free afternoon.
DAY 9: PUNO - CUSCO (B, L)
Early pick up. We will have a long trip with very interesting stops along the way: The Museum of Pukara in the colonial town called Pukara, the Raya Pass (4335 masl), the Wiracocha Temple in Raqchi, and the Church of Andahuaylillas also known as “Sistine Chapel of America”. You can also enjoy hot and cold drinks during the trip as well as the famous "Pan Chuta". Lunch will be buffet type in Sicuani.
We will arrive in Cusco at around 5 pm. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 10: CITY TOUR IN CUSCO
In the afternoon we will visit the Historic Center of Cusco: : its “Plaza de Armas” or main square which was also the center of the Inca Empire, its Cathedral of the colonial period, the Inca Temple of “Qoricancha” or Temple of the Sun; then we are going to visit the complexes of Sacsayhuaman, monument of 3 platforms in a zigzag shape with huge stones; Qenqo, an important and sacred place for Inca’s ceremonies; Pucapucara which was part of defense of Cusco in Spanish conquest times and finally Tambomachay which was possibly considered like the temple of the water, there are aqueducts that run through the terraced rocks; from this place we descend back to the city.
DAY 11: SACRED VALLEY (B, L)
After the breakfast, we start our tour with a bus trip to the colonial village of Pisaq, located 32 km from Cusco, where we will visit its archaeological complex, its famous handicrafts Market here you can buy textiles, handicrafts, jewels, delicious “empanadas” among other souvenirs at an unbeatable price.
We continue our journey for about 45 minutes passing through beautiful landscapes of the Sacred Valley to reach the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Then we travel to Ollantaytambo famous for being the only Inca city that is still inhabited. We are going to visit its important archaeological site. We spend the night here!
DAY 12: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU
After the breakfast, we will take the ascension buses to the citadel of Machu Picchu, arriving, you will have a guided tour for 2 hour approx., we will visit its temples, squares, Andean terraces, palaces, intiwatana or solar clock, its water fountains built on the rock and others places of interest. After the guided tour you can visit the citadel on your own*. At the right time we will descend by bus, arriving at the train station to return to Cusco, transfer to the hotel.
*Optional: Hike up Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (prior booking necessary)
DAY 13: MARAS - MORAY (B)
We will pick you up at 8:30 am from your Hotel and travel to the Archaeological Complex of Moray which offers us huge deep circular agricultural terraces with irrigation canals and filtration systems that prevent flooding. This particular form of the terraces served as a kind of agricultural laboratory where the Incas used to determine the optimum conditions for each category in different altitudes, taking advantage of the diverse microclimates that its concentric form and gradient provides.
On our way back we will visit the salt mines of Maras, at first sight these famous “salt pits” give the impression of being snow divided into squares, it is a mountain where salty springs emerge and takes the liquid salt towards the “pools” for its treatment and production. The Incas built the terraces to capture the flows; it was a salt producing center during the colonial times also. You will be able to see how the people from the local communities still produce salt. We return to Cusco in the afternoon. At 8pm we will pick you up and transfer to the “terminal terrestre” in order to take our bus to Puerto Maldonado.
DAY 14: PUERTO MALDONADO - LODGE - CAIMAN COCHA (L, D)
We´ll start our program with a visit around the city, on a bus. Afterwards, we will go to Puerto Capitanía, to board a motorized riverboat, and we´ll navigate on the Madre de Dios River., Arriving at the Ecoamazonia Lodge, we will enjoy an exquisite welcome drink, and have lunch together. Once satisfied, you will be conducted by our specialized tour guide through an interpretive trail to the Caimán Cocha, a small lake with an abundant presence of specimens of Black Caiman (Melanosuchus Niger) and Caiman (Caiman Crocodilus). At the end of the evening, you will witness the spectacular sunset in the Amazon. Upon returning to the Lodge, a delicious dinner will await you, and enjoy free time to share unforgettable moments at the bar.
DAY 15: LOST COCHA - MONKEY ISLAND (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we´ll go on a hike in the deep jungle, to get to the Lost Cocha which constitutes a refuge and feeding ecosystem for a huge variety of animals. Then, we´ll get to the extraordinary Observation Deck, from which we´ll be able to appreciate the immense and magical rainforest. Afterwards, we´ll have a pleasant canoe ride around the lake and will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit Monkey Island, a unique place in the heart of Madre de Dios River, five minutes away from the Lodge. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes, with an exuberant flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species, in their natural habitat.
Finally, we´ll complete our visit of the island, enjoying the sunset, with the most impressive dusk in the jungle. Back to the lodge we conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.
DAY 16: LODGE - PUERTO MALDONADO (B)
After a restful night's sleep, the morning begins with the sound of beautiful birdsongs from the Amazon Paradise. In our dining room awaits a farewell breakfast before embarking the return to Puerto Maldonado in time to take your flight to Lima or another destination.
