The National Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu (old mountain) is an Inca citadel located 112.5 km northeast of the city of Cusco, in the heights of the Urubamba River mountains, more than 2 450 m s. n. m. It was built in the mid-fifteenth century, at the request of the Inca Pachakuteq.
In 1983, in Lisbon (Portugal), the citadel of Machu Picchu was declared a Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, due to its architectural, ecological and historical wealth, and, therefore, is considered as a Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu
On July 7, 2007, it was declared one of the seven wonders of the modern world in Lisbon (Portugal).
Machu Picchu received the title of Cultural Heritage of the Nation from December 9, 1983.
Early in the morning we are going to pick you up and take a trip to Ollantaytambo’s train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, it’s a one hour and half trip through the Andes with wonderful views. Arriving to Aguas Calientes we will take the ascension buses to the citadel of Machu Picchu, in this famous place we are going to have a guided tour for 2 hour approx., we will visit its temples, squares, andean terraces, palaces, intiwatana or solar clock, its water fountains built on the rock, the temple of the sun, the temple of the condor and others places of interest. After the guided tour you can visit the citadel on your own*, capturing these unforgettable moments, feeling the energy of this magic place, etc. At the right time we will descend by bus, arriving at the train station to return to Cusco, transfer to the hotel.
